Spin Controller

Spin Controllers (2-choices)

These Spin Controllers were developed for Robot Weapons. The Victor 883 SC (90A) and Thor 883 SC (150A) are programmed to function as a single direction spinning-mass controller. Both the forward and reverse components on a normal Victor are dedicated to a single direction.

  • 90A / 150A Continuous.
  • Safely handles high continuous current and extreme current surges.
  • Integral cooling fan ensures cool FET junction temperatures.

How it Works

1. User controlled soft start-up helps conserve battery capacity since a motor is basically stalled at startup.
2. User controlled variable forward speed. Spinning at a variable rate is important if your robot is out of balance or unstable at full speed.
3. The final and most important benefit is a special ramp down feature that takes over if you lose your control signal. When the signal is lost, or you turn off your transmitter, the controller softly ramps the dynamic braking from 0% to 100% over a ten second time period, then remains at 100% braking indefinitely (or until the control signal returns). This allows designers to make their inertia devices or spin‑bots spin faster and more freely than previously possible. The automatic proportional braking feature enables the robot to meet most spin down time rules during inspection and competition.
4. The Victor/Thor SC's fail-safe even works if input power is lost. Regeneration is used to 'shunt brake' the motor.

Technical Specifications

Battery In Power Connector: 6-32 Screw Terminals
Do not reverse the input polarity on a Victor. Doing this will permanently damage the unit and void the warranty.
Inputs
  • Use a standard non-shrouded 3-wire cable.
  • Standard R/C Type PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)
  • PWM Input Pulse: 1 - 2 ms
  • PWM Input Rate: 15 - 30 ms
  • The red wire (center pin) on the 3-wire cable connected to the Victor is an open circuit.
  • There is no reason to disconnect the red wire in the cable.
  • The Victor does not source or draw power on the red wire.
Outputs Power one motor with variable speed forward, reverse, or off.
Our Speed Controllers can NOT be used with Brushless motors.
Specification Use a PWM Signal Driver to ensure the signal from your receiver is Victor compatible.
Warning - Applying more than 5V to a PWM Signal Driver will damage it. Do not use a PWM Signal Driver with any VEX Microcontrollers, VEXpro, Signal Splitters, or any receivers or mixers that supply more than 5V to the PWM Signal Driver as damage will occur.
