IQ Smart Radio (1st generation)
The Smart Radio (1st generation) expands the potential of the VEX IQ Robot Brain and Controller by enabling wireless communication with smartphones, tablets and computers using Bluetooth ® 4.0+ connections. When combined with apps designed to utilize the Smart Radio, this allows for wireless programming of robots, interaction with robots using smartphones or tablets running Bluetooth ® 4.0 or higher, and other advanced features.
For information on installing, updating, and connecting the Smart Radio, see the Smart Radio User Guide. The VEX IQ Robot Brain and Controller firmware must be updated to VEXos Version 2.0.1 or higher before using the Smart Radio.
Note: Smart Radios are sold individually. 2 radios are needed to function properly.
- Can be used in place of existing 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz wireless radios
- Supports multiple connections (e.g. Robot Brain + Controller + Tablet)
- Smart Radio is legal for the VEX IQ Challenge
System Requirements
Supported mobile devices include the iPhone 4s, 3rd generation iPad, 1st generation iPad Mini, or any newer versions of the above. Mac OS X support requires OS X 10.10+ (Yosemite or newer) and compatible Bluetooth® Low Energy hardware. Android support requires Android 5.0+ and compatible Bluetooth® Low Energy hardware. Windows support requires Windows 8+ and compatible Bluetooth® Low Energy hardware and drivers.
Compatible devices must be running apps that are designed to utilize the Smart Radio’s advanced features. If you have any questions about device compatibility, please email support@vex.com.
