A Chassis System for Any Team
The 2014 Drive in a Day is a configurable chassis system that produces lightweight, affordable, and robust sheet metal drivetrains. With a 0.5" pitch and a wide variety of mounting holes for motors, gearboxes, and bearings, teams can use the 2014 Drive in a Day to build the drivetrain that's right for them.
The Drive in a Day's side rails are where teams are going to see the most benefit. Years of FIRST ® Robotics Competition experience have led to an optimized hole pattern that can mount just about any configuration that would be applicable to the 2014 game, Aerial Assist.
- The live axle holes are spaced to perfectly fit 140T timing belts and 42T pulleys in a 6WD configuration
- Mounting holes for CIM-style gearboxes can direct drive wheels via a 12:72 gear ratio (11:72 using the 11t gear with 12t center distance) OR a 14:70 ratio (13:70 using the 13t gear with 14t center distance)
- Note: The 3 CIM Ball Shifter will not use all of the mounting holes shown
- The "Nemo Hole" was added after it was suggested by a post on Chief Delphi
- When the side rail is inverted, it becomes set up for dead axles
- Dead axles use the same 140T timing belt and 42T pulley spacing as the live axle side
- Includes an inverted "Nemo Hole"

Belt-Driven Six Wheel Tank Drive
- (4x) 4" VersaWheel DT's
- Existing mounting holes are spaced for 42T VersaPulleys with 140T timing belts
- No tensioning required
- Can use 3 CIM Ball Shifter or Single Speed Double Reduction
- Recommended: 3 CIM Ball Shifter with 11T pinion, 2.64 spread ratio, 50:34 third stage
- High gear loaded output speed: 13.49 ft/s
- Low gear loaded output speed: 3.67 ft/s

Chain-Driven Six Wheel Tank Drive (Using "Nemo" hole)
- 3.25" VersaWheel DT's
- Dead axle "Nemo holes" are spaced for #25 32T plate sprockets and #25 roller chain
- No tensioning required (other than chain stretch)
- Can use 3 CIM Ball Shifter or Single Speed Double Reduction
- Recommended: Single Speed Double Reduction with 12T pinion and 34:20 optional gearset
- Loaded output speed: 10.76 ft/s

4" Mecanum Drive with CIM + RS-775 Motors
- (4x) 4" Mecanum Wheels
- Perfectly round mecanum wheels allow for smooth holonomic drive
- (4x) CIMs direct mounted with 72:11 single reduction
- (4x) RS-775 motors mounted using CIM-ile gearboxes provide additional power
- Loaded output speed: 11.47 ft/s

H-drive
- (5x) 4" Omni Wheels
- The first COTS H-drive base designed for FIRST ® Robotics Competition teams
- (5x) CIMs direct mounted with 72:11 single reduction
- Can add additional CIM-style motors using existing mounting holes
- Loaded output speed: 11.47 ft/s
