Red Pin

Red Pin

The Red Pin connects two pieces together so that they lay flush with one another.

The Red Pin connects with one piece on each side to create a connection between pieces that are parallel to each other.

For more information on the Red Pin, see the Using VEX GO Pins, Standoffs, and Connectors article.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (53) Red Pins

Replacements can be ordered in the GO Parts Pack A SKU#: 269-7143

Green Pin

Green Pin

The Green Pin connects two or more pieces together so that they lay flush with one another.

The Green Pin can connect one piece on one side, and up to two pieces on the longer side. The Green Pin creates a connection between pieces that are in parallel to each other.

For more information on the Green Pin, see the Using VEX GO Pins, Standoffs, and Connectors article.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (7) Green Pins

Replacements can be ordered in the GO Parts Pack A SKU#: 269-7143

Pink Pin

Pink Pin

The Pink Pin connects 2 pieces, and acts as a cap. It has a round section which allows it to be inserted into a round hole and it has a square peg which allows it to also be inserted into a square hole. The flat side of the Pink Pin, or “cap” acts as a flange and stops parts from passing through.

For more information on the Pink Pin, see the Using VEX GO Pins, Standoffs, and Connectors article.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (5) Pink Pins

Replacements can be ordered in the GO Parts Pack A SKU#: 269-7143

Gray Pin

Gray Pin

The Gray Pin can act as both a pin and a shaft. The Gray Pin has a square peg with a flange on one side, then a round section, and a square peg on the other. The round side is a pin that can connect up to two pieces- one w/ a round hole and one w/ a square hole. The square side acts as a shaft, and can attach to one piece with a square hole.

When a square side is placed in a square hole and the Grey Pin is forced to spin. A part connected to Gray Pin will be forced to spin as well. For example, if the Grey Pin is placed in the square hole of a motor, the Gray Pin and the pieces attached to the round side be forced to spin.

For more information on the Gray Pin, see the Using VEX GO Pins, Standoffs, and Connectors article.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (2) Gray Pins

Replacements can be ordered in the GO Parts Pack A SKU#: 269-7143

Yellow Standoff

Standoffs

Standoffs connect two pieces but leave a space in between. Each kind of standoff has a different width gap that will be created by its use.

The Yellow Standoff leaves a gap that is that is one Beam/Plate thickness thick.

The Blue Standoff leaves a gap that is two Beams/Plates thick.

The Orange Standoff creates the widest space, that is equal to the depth of 4 Beams.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (7) Yellow Standoffs
  • (8) Blue Standoffs
  • (5) Orange Standoffs

For more information on the Standoffs, see the Using VEX GO Pins, Standoffs, and Connectors article.

Red and Green Shaft

Red and Green Shaft

Shafts are square rods that are primarily used as axles to allow assemblies to spin or rotate. The square shape allows the shafts to fit into a square socket in the motor or in the center of gears, wheels, and pulleys.

Shafts need to be held in place in order to enable the shaft to spin freely and not slide out of the assembly.

The Red Shaft and Green Shaft have a colored plastic stoppers that act as a flange, and keep the shaft in place.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (4) Red Shafts
  • (4) Green Shafts

Replacements can be ordered in the GO Parts Pack A SKU#: 269-7143

Capped Shaft

Capped Shaft

Shafts are square rods that are primarily used as axles to allow assemblies to spin or rotate. The square shape allows the shafts to fit into a square socket in the motor or in the center of gears, wheels, and pulleys.

Shafts need to be held in place in order to enable the shaft to spin freely and not slide out of the assembly.

The flat side of the Capped Shaft acts as a flange and will keep the shaft in place.

Red Connector

Connectors

Connectors create connections at a 90 degree angle allowing for a nearly endless number of options to create three-dimensional designs connecting beams, plates and other pieces.

The Red Connector connects and one round hole to allow it to receive a standard connection. Because the Red Connector only attaches with one “pin” it allows the piece to swivel, and can be used as a hinge.

The Green Connector and Orange Connector allow for the right angle connections on each side.

The Blue Connector and the Yellow Connector can make a 90 degree connection on one side and are ideal for making corner connections.

For more information on the Connectors, see the Using VEX GO Pins, Standoffs, and Connectors article.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (9) Red Connectors
  • (4) Green Connectors
  • (8) Yellow Connectors
  • (5) Blue Connectors
  • (3) Orange Connectors

Replacements can be ordered in several GO Parts Packs:

The LED Bumper is both a light and a bumper switch.

As a sensor, the LED Bumper can be used to display colored light: red, green, or no color (off.)

As a bumper switch, the LED Bumper reports if it is pressed or released.

The LED Bumper can be used as a switch to trigger actions when pressed. For example, the LED Bumper can be used to stop the Drivetrain when pressed.

Connect the LED Bumper to the Brain by inserting the LED Bumper Cable into one of the four Smart Ports on the Brain.

For more information about the LED Bumper, see the Using the VEX GO Sensors.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (1) LED Bumper

A replacement LED Bumper can be ordered from VEX Robotics SKU#: 269-6696

Brain

Brain

The Brain is essential for any VEX GO build that is run by a VEXcode GO project.

The Brain runs user projects and controls the devices connected to the Brain.

The Brain has four numbered ports that can accept the Motors, LED Bumper, or Electromagnet. It also has two separate ports for the Battery (orange) and the Eye Sensor (blue-green).

For more information about the Brain, view the Using the VEX GO Brain article.

The VEX GO Kit contains:

  • (1) Brain

A replacement Brain can be ordered from VEX Robotics SKU#: 269-6685

Battery

Battery

The Battery is essential for any VEX GO build that includes electronics. The Battery provides power to VEX GO electronic components and connects to the orange port on the Brain or Switch.

To charge the Battery, connect to a power source using the USB-C cable provided in the VEX GO Kit.

The Battery takes approximately 1-2 hours to fully charge, and is designed to last approximately one school day.

For more information about the Battery, view the Using the VEX GO Battery article.

Switch

Switch

The Switch, when connected to a Motor, controls the direction the Motor spins. Connect a Motor to the Switch by inserting the Motor Cable into the Smart Port on the Switch.

The Switch can be set to forward, reverse, or off.

‘+’ : rotates the Motor in the forward direction.

    Neutral: turns the Motor off.

‘-’ : rotates the Motor in the reverse direction.

For more information about the Switch, view the Using the VEX GO Switch article.

Eye Sensor

Eye Sensor

The Eye Sensor detects if there is an object present and the color of the object (red/green/blue.) It will also register the brightness of the light.

The Eye Sensor connects to the blue-green port on the Brain.

For more information about the Eye Sensor, see the Using the VEX GO Sensors article.
